Limpy Rock

Limpy Rock is a rock complex made up of three primary large rock outcrops. The largest of these is the lower middle one which is approximately 400 ft in height from its lowest point on the slope. According to Logan Wetherel’s thin section analysis, the rock itself is unique in that it is a low-moderate grade microcrystalline quartzite containing >75% quartz derived from hydrothermally altered andesitic tuff or a plug altered through intense faulting and steam. What this means to climbing is the lighter brown portions of the rock are choss and the dark black portions of the rocks are bomber.
