The Lake County Tour de Outback, held each June, is a premier cycling event for road and gravel biking enthusiasts. Run entirely by volunteers, a portion of the registration fees are donated to a local organization, this year to Lake County Search and Rescue. Sponsorships from local businesses and grants are essential to the event for covering costs such as rentals, safety measures, food, entertainment, and marketing.
This year, Travel Southern Oregon’s $5,000 support helped cover these essential costs, resulting in a sold-out event with 137 participants from all over the region, filling local hotel rooms and campsites, and bringing commerce to local businesses. Riders were ecstatic with the event on both the gravel and the road routes, and enjoyed the stunning landscapes and local hospitality. One participant from Bend, OR, praised the experience and promised to return with friends and family.
“Travel Southern Oregon’s support was invaluable, turning a good event into a great one.” — Marie Tucker, co-chair of Tour de Outback
