Travel Southern Oregon Launches New Website

Travel Southern Oregon is proud to announce the newest version of SouthernOregon.org is now available. Designed by Cardwell Creative in Salem, and developed by our long-term partner Chee Studios, the new site focuses on inspirational imagery, SEO optimization, and most importantly integrates with all the features of the Oregon Information Tourism System (OTIS).

Stunning images are present at the top of each page, inviting the user to explore further and learn more. Additionally, images are used as part of templates giving a consistent feeling to the site and allowing the main content to shine through. As visitors explore the site, the photos highlight the incredible activities available in the region.

From the ground up, careful consideration was given to the SEO potential: how to best craft a site that helps visitors find what they are looking for about Southern Oregon, all while driving traffic from search platforms. The new site structure will allow Google to grab powerful keywords based on real visitor searches: “Dining in Jacksonville,” “Hikes in Cave Junction,” “Places to Stay in Chiloquin.” The new strategy adds credibility to the work our regional partners have done and supports the rural communities visitors are looking to explore.

All the Visitor Resources for Air Quality and Wildfire Updates are still available – as are all our Food Trails and Adventure Maps from across the region. The TSO Industry site is also embedded within the new site, and will increasingly serve as a resource for much of our industry communications and opportunities for regional stakeholders.

The real power driving the new website is OTIS – Travel Oregon’s statewide database for all tourism-related businesses and events in the state. OTIS ensures that not only the results on SouthernOregon.org are timely and accurate, but also that small businesses throughout the region are being promoted at the state level on TravelOregon.com. OTIS listings and the listings on SouthernOregon.org are provided free of charge. City leaders and business owners are encouraged to check their listing, and update as needed.
