Travel Southern Oregon to offer our region this interactive grant writing workshop focusing on developing tourism-related projects and securing funding for that work. Join Meredith Howell, an experienced grant writer and grant coach for an discussion on an array of relevant topics including:
• New funding opportunities through Travel Oregon
• What makes a story compelling?
• How to organize grant work to make deadlines a breeze
• Gaining commitments from your Board and other stakeholders
• Budgeting basics and beyond
• Evaluating your work
• Using online grant systems
• Tips for successful Travel Oregon grant applications
This free event, with lunch provided, is limited to 40 spots. Registration required--please send no more than 2 people from your organization so we can reach as many organizations as possible.
Meredith Howell is a well-respected grant writer, grant coach, trainer, and facilitator in organizational, community, and workforce development. She has worked with organizations and funders across Oregon to help match funding resources with thoughtfully planned work. Her background in scientific research, teaching and curriculum development at the university level helps her effectively communicate complicated and abstract concepts to diverse audiences. Meredith lives in Yachats on the Oregon Coast.

Find out how to partner with other industry members around the state to maximize your exposure to visitors. Every attendee receives a resource packet brimming with information and contacts for future reference.

Travel Oregon Listening Sessions May 2018
Travel Oregon, in partnership with Travel Southern Oregon, invites you to join one of 10 Oregon Tourism Listening Sessions across the state this spring. We want to hear from anyone who touches the tourism industry, including business owners, land managers, volunteers, nonprofits, policymakers and more, as we value all perspectives and opinions.
Your input is very important. Listening session findings will help shape the future of tourism in Oregon through Travel Oregon’s statewide strategic plan, as well as Travel Southern Oregon's regional plan.
Session attendees will have the chance to meet their Travel Southern Oregon representative and Travel Oregon employees, learn about and provide input on your region's 2017-19 plans as well as the statewide 2019-21 strategic plan.
All sessions are interactive. Attendees will be invited to partake in small group table exercises, provide input and share opinions.
Sessions are three hours; food and beverages provided.

Rogue Valley Wine & Culinary Strategic Planning Session Summary
TSO hosted a Rogue Valley Wine Country Strategic Planning Session, at Bigham Knoll in Jacksonville on Thursday, February 1. The strategy session, led by Dr. Randy Harrington of Strategic Arts & Sciences Inc. included 50 stakeholders from the Rogue Valley engaged in wine, culinary, and tourism industries. 2018 TSO Visitor Guide Coming Together
Travel Southern Oregon has partnered with Oregon Media Group in Bend--publishers of the Central Oregon and Eastern Oregon Visitor Guides among others--to update and expand our 2018 Visitors Guide. Oregon Media will art direct, write copy and sell all ads for this beautiful new 96-page guide with regional profiles of Southern Oregon Makers, expanded wine & culinary section and lodging directory. Ross Johnson and Susan Crow will be reaching out to all of our regional partners about advertising opportunities starting in January 2018.
