Historic Presentations in the Jacksonville Cemetery

May 11 - September 14

You are invited to experience the historical Victorian life preserved in the Jacksonville Pioneer cemetery. Presenters will help you travel back in time to imagine life in Jacksonville over 100 years ago. What were the expectations for courtship and marriage? On what did judges and lawyers base their decisions and/or arguments? What was a woman’s place in a salon?

2024 Schedule:

  • May 11: Drink Up . . . Spirits, Bars, and Prohibition
  • June 8: Courtship and Love
  • July 13: The Law:  Lawyers, Judges and a Sheriff or Two
  • August 10: Let us entertain you – Entertainment and Leisure
  • September 14: Love and marriage

10 – 11:30 a.m.

Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather. Tours and/or topics may not be suitable for young children. Please meet your Docents at the Sexton’s Tool House at the top of the Cemetery Road. Parking is available within the cemetery grounds. All events are wheelchair accessible by prior arrangements.

No advance registrations are required and, while the tours are free, donations are greatly appreciated and help to support educational programs, as well as on-going cemetery restoration and preservation work.
