Grants Pass Golf Course is considered one of the finest courses in Oregon. With warm sunny days and the mild winters, this course plays well year round.
The original vision for Grants Pass Golf Club began in 1946 when eleven local businessmen and golfers got together to discuss their desire for a golf course. In 1948, after considerable financial and physical support, they were able to play on their new 9-hole course. Following the purchase of what was a horse ranch, the original members helped clean, burn and seed. On occasion, they were even given the honor of mowing greens and fairways before playing! A couple descendents of these original members remain avid members and golfers today. Many of these people remained committed to their dream and were instrumental in acquiring the land necessary to add nine holes. Grants Pass Golf Club became a full 18-hole course in 1972. History says the original stock approval accommodated only 200 members. Following the completion of the second nine holes, the membership was increased to 450. It is thanks to the original eleven with their vision and determination that all the current members enjoy the club we have today. If you happen to run into any of the descendents of these founders, let them know their family’s contribution is remembered. While many, many club members have volunteered their time and resources through the years, what we have today simply wouldn’t have been possible had it not been for their insights and dedication way back in 1946.
