2025 U.S. Sheep Shearing Championships

June 06 - June 07

Sheep shearers from all over the U.S. come to the River Arena at the Douglas County Fairgrounds on June 6 and 7 to compete in blade shearing, wool handling and conventional shearing. Competitors will be attempting to qualify for the Golden Shears International Competition.

Douglas County has a rich history of shearers that have competed at the national level. Producers from around the county will be providing sheep to be shorn at the event. Douglas County sheep produce a coarse wool that is mostly used for bedding. It is a great natural material that is anti-flammable, anti-microbial and helps maintain an even temperature.

Friday: 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Saturday: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
