Sanctuary One at Double Oak Farm is a nonprofit care farm where people, animals, and the earth work together for mutual healing.
Care farming (also known as green care, farm care, or farming for health), is well established in Europe, but is a relatively new concept in the United States.
Sanctuary One demonstrates how farming for health can be a cheap, natural, and effective means of healing people; how animals can be treated humanely and honored for their intrinsic physical and spiritual value; and how the environment that sustains us all can be steadily improved through organic and permaculture-inspired farming practices.
The staff, interns, and volunteers at Sanctuary One love to meet people of all ages who are interested in learning more about care farming. Group tours for churches, retirement homes, social clubs, and the like are also welcome.
During your tour, a staff member or volunteer will guide you around the farm, explain how a care farm works, and answer your questions. The tour also includes a chance to meet the Sanctuary’s herd of 100+ rescued farm animals and house pets.
Reservations are required for a farm tour. Please visit our website or call us for more information.
