The famed wild coast draws visitors to dozens of miles of public coastal parkland, intertwined with both scenic and historic viewpoints and trails. Whale watching from the shore is complimentary and a must try. The coast consists of a rugged, steep shoreline blended gracefully with sand beaches. To the east are tens of thousands of acres of public mountainous, forestland ideal for camping, hiking, and bird watching. The coastal port cities provide fine dining, distilleries, and some of the finest art available along the coast.

Brookings, referred to as the Banana Belt due to its mild climate, is home to Harris Beach State Park which lends scenic off-shore sea stacks and a sandy expanse to play. It is also revered for its vibrant Azalea Park, chic Harbor area, and unique festivals, like the Azalea Festival and the Southern Oregon Kite Festival.

As you head north along the coast, youll encounter the Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridora twelve mile Oceanside park which winds through tall pines and breathtaking ocean photo opportunities. Gold Beach, midway into your Curry Coast adventure, offers rides up the adventurous wild Rogue River, where you can enjoy crabbing, clamming and fishing. Upriver from the coast, visitors often try their luck panning for gold. Gold Beach is known for their spring season of public treasure hunting glass floats hidden above the surf line.

En route to the next city youll awe Humbug Mountain, a majestic state park well worth trekking through. Port Orford is a historic fishing town which boasts downtown wall murals and art galleries, as well as a coastal/wilderness bike route and wildlife viewing area.
