The Culinary Adventure

Discover the Rogue Creamery

Learn about the famed Rogue Creamery with Greg Robeson, a native Oregonian and a food and wine aficionado, as he travels the state to discover its wonders.

Surprising, delicious, varied and abundant.

That's Oregon-style cuisine, and Southern Oregon dining is the best of the best.

With plenty of fresh, local produce to work with, it's no wonder our chefs prepare such tasty fare. Imagine dining on fresh-caught salmon and sipping wine as you overlook a gentle stretch of the Rogue River.

Or how about fresh huckleberry pie and Umpqua ice cream on your way to Crater Lake?

Some of the noteworthy culinary adventures you'll have in Southern Oregon include a taste (or two) of world-famous blue cheese from the Rogue Creamery (voted best blue cheese in the world in 2005) and handmade chocolates from Lillie Belle farms (so delicious, Martha Stewart gave them for corporate gifts in 2005).

Dining choices in Southern Oregon run from the traditional family-run to charming cafes, bistros and historic inns. There's also a wide range of Northwest and ethnic cuisine.

In Southern Oregon, you're right in the middle of pear country. We're the home of Harry & David, one of the largest gourmet mail-order food and gift companies in the world. Locally grown pears, apples and other fruits are what make Harry & David's baskets so popular. Take a tour of their factory in Medford, and watch their famous truffles being made (luckily, there's free samples).
