Traveling south of Klamath Falls on Highway 97 will put
you in the middle of a birding delight.
Stops at Klamath State Wildlife Area (right on Miller
Island Road), Lower Klamath Wildlife Refuge (Stateline
Road 161) and Tulelake Wildlife Refuge (south on Hill
Road) provide excellent habitat for waterfowl and colonial
birds.
Next stop is the Lava Beds National Monument, vast lava
flows with more than 300 caves to explore, and bountiful
with history.
