Abert
Rim is one of the outstanding geological wonders of North America. This earth
fault is more than 2,000 feet high and more than 30 miles long.
Crack-in-the-Ground
and Hole-in-the-Ground, in northern Lake County, are two truly unique geologic
formations. At Fort Rock, see the popped volcanic bubble called “Hole-in-the-Ground.”
In nearby Christmas Valley, explore the 70 foot deep remnant of a long ago earthquake,
“Crack-in-the-Ground.”
Fort Rock, in northern Lake County, is the site of
ancient Native American ruins and scene of dramatic battles. Visit the Fort Rock
Museum and unique, authentic Homestead Village.
Hart Mountain National Antelope
Refuge is a 170,000-acre wildlife haven and home of a large herd of pronghorn
antelope. California Bighorn sheep can also be observed.
