Oregon Caves National Monument
While the Oregon Caves National Monument is small in size, it is rich in diversity. Above ground, the monument encompasses a remnant old-growth forest with a fantastic array of plants, and a Douglas fir tree with the widest known girth in Oregon. Three hiking trails access this forest. Below ground is an active marble cave created by natural forces over hundreds of thousands of years in one of the world’s most diverse geologic realms. The Monument is home to a historic bark-clad chateau nestled in old growth and an unforgettable underground tour. Page Mountain Snow Park
Located off Hwy 199. Sled, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and summertime mountain biking. Snow Park permits required in the winter. Contact the Illinois Valley Ranger District for information. (541) 592-2166
Rough and Ready Botanical Wayside
Illinois Valley. Located along Rough and Ready Creek, includes many rare and special plants native to the Siskiyou Mountains. Popular wildflower viewing area early March through late September.
